LONDON PIED A TERRE - KENSINGTON

Situated in one of Kensington's magnificent garden squares, we fully refurbished this Grade II Listed first floor Victorian apartment on behalf of an overseas family.

BRIEF /

The client's brief was to restore and reintroduce the traditional Victorian features of the property after they had been stripped out by a 1950's conversion by a previous owner, whilst balancing it with a contemporary feel that was on a par with a luxury hotel.

PROCESS /

At the start of the project we spent a lot of time with the client to understand their style preferences & expectations of the project. Once the framework of the renovation plans had been developed, we worked closely with Kensington & Chelsea's Listed Planning Department to ensure that they, as well as all materials etc were suitable. We sourced a restored Victorian mantlepiece for the living area and in the master bedroom where the ceilings are over 4m high, we worked with a specialist company to restore the original cornices that had been covered by years of paint, as well as installing a new ceiling rose and grand chandelier. All of the rooms were sympathetically decorated to make the most of these original features and to emphasise the space & light.

We are so pleased with the outcome of our renovation - Emily is a consummate professional and her attention to detail is reassuring, making the whole process stress-free! She has breathed new life into the property, designing a home for us that is practical as well as beautiful.
